TfSE Rail Strategy Approved by Board

TfSE Rail Strategy Approved by Board

Transport for the South East’s (TFSE) new Rail Strategy was approved by TFSE’s Partnership Board earlier this month.

The Rail Strategy sets out the challenges and opportunities associated with improving passenger and freight rail services in the TfSE area and the wider South East. It builds directly on the Transport Strategy missions, published last year, to establish a shared vision for the future of rail for the first time  in the South East.

It provides a strategic framework to guide investment decisions on radial and orbital rail corridors in the South East over the coming decades supported by a detailed evidence base.

The strategy will enable TfSE to advise the Secretary of State on regional priorities, help shape the Long-Term Rail Strategy, and support Network Rail, Great British Railways and local authorities, including future mayors, in addressing rail challenges and opportunities across the South East.

With the imminent arrival of Great British Railways, the approval of the strategy is timely and provides an opportunity for TfSE to present a clear and collective voice on the future of rail priorities across the region
