Transport for the South East’s (TfSE) refreshed Transport Strategy was formally adopted as the region’s strategic advice to Government this week, marking a major milestone for the organisation and setting a clear vision for the future of transport across the South East.
The strategy is underpinned by five priority missions:
- Strategic Connectivity
- Resilience
- Inclusion and Integration
- Decarbonisation
- Sustainable Growth
The Partnership Board’s decision to adopt the strategy follows almost two years of development, with input from local authorities, key transport operators, stakeholders, and a twelve-week public consultation receiving over 865 responses.
The strategy highlights the region’s characteristics, how the transport context has evolved since 2020, and the main transport challenges facing the South East. The strategy focuses on the five new missions, each with defined outputs, outcomes, and priorities, referencing schemes in the Strategic Investment Plan and the role of partner organisations.
The strategy provides a framework for action, emphasising practical solutions that maximise available resources. We will continue to support local transport authority partners to deliver the strategy, through our Analytical Framework and Centre of Excellence.
